For families
Severe weather alerts for your parents’ home, wherever you live
Your phone only gets emergency alerts for where it is. To know when a tornado or flash flood warning covers your parents’ home in another state, something has to watch their address. Kinwarn does that, and with Kinwarn Pro it can also call them.
Why your phone stays quiet
Wireless Emergency Alerts are broadcast from cell towers to phones in the warned area. If you live in Chicago and your mother lives in Tulsa, a tornado warning for her street never reaches you. And her own phone may not alert her: not every phone can receive emergency alerts, and a phone left in another room is easy to miss.
What Kinwarn does
- Watches the exact address. You get an alert when the warning’s outline covers her home, not just somewhere in her county.
- No app and no location sharing for her. You add the address. She does not need to install anything.
- Calls her for the most dangerous warnings (Pro). She hears the warning and presses 1. You see that she got it.
- Calls you if she doesn’t answer. After two missed calls about a tornado warning, Kinwarn calls you.
Set it up in two minutes
- Add your home and your parents’ home in the app.
- With Pro, add their phone number. Kinwarn calls once to ask permission, and they press 1.
- Help them set the Kinwarn number as a contact on their iPhone, so the call can ring at night.
A storm plan for older parents
Alerts help only if there is a plan: a shelter spot in each home, a list of medicines, a charged phone or a weather radio, and someone who calls to check. Read the family storm plan.
School and work
Add your child’s school or your workplace as a place. By default Kinwarn alerts you about it only on weekdays from 7 AM to 4 PM, so you are not woken up for an empty school at night.
Add Mom’s house. She doesn’t need an app.
Kinwarn for iPhone watches the exact addresses of the people you love and alerts you when a National Weather Service warning covers them. Alerts for 2 places are free. With Kinwarn Pro, Kinwarn also calls family for the most dangerous warnings.

Questions people ask
Can I get tornado warnings for my parents’ address?
Yes. Add their address in Kinwarn and you get an alert whenever a National Weather Service warning covers it, wherever you are. Alerts for 2 places are free.
Does my mother need a smartphone or an app?
No. Kinwarn watches her address, not her phone. With Kinwarn Pro, Kinwarn calls her phone number when a tornado warning covers her home, and that works on a landline too.
Does Kinwarn track my parents’ location?
No. Kinwarn only uses the addresses you type in. Nobody has to share their location.
What if she doesn’t answer the call?
Kinwarn calls again after 90 seconds. If she misses two calls about a tornado warning, a tsunami warning or an evacuation order, Kinwarn calls you so you can try to reach her.
Will Kinwarn call my parents without asking them?
No. Before any warning call, Kinwarn calls the number once to ask for permission, and the person presses 1 to agree. They can press 9 during any call to stop all calls.
